President and Sabina host a reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps

On 29 January, President Higgins made his traditional New Year’s address to members of the diplomatic corps. 

Each January, the President hosts a reception for the Ambassadors and consular representatives of the many countries that have diplomatic relations with Ireland, and speaks to them about the importance of international diplomacy and respect for human rights. 

In his address, the President spoke of the history of Irish diplomacy and the required international responses to global challenges.
