At a ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin, President Higgins appointed Mr. Liam Herrick as Chief Commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.

The Commission is an independent public body that accounts directly to the Oireachtas and works to promote and protect human rights and equality in Ireland, and to build a culture of respect for human rights, equality and intercultural understanding.
