President Higgins was invited by the Director General of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), Dr. QU Dongyu, to participate in the World Food Forum (WFF) held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, from Monday, 16th to Friday, 20th October, 2023.
The President delivered a speech on Monday afternoon at the WFF grand opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address at the closing ceremony on the afternoon of Friday. President Higgins was also invited to participate as a keynote speaker at the 43rd observance of the World Food Day also at FAO HQ on the morning of Monday 16th October.
