President Higgins met with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Angela Merkel.
First elected to the post in November 2005, Ms. Merkel was elected Chancellor for a fourth time on 14 March 2018, and she is the EU’s longest serving Head of Government.
