President Higgins met Mr. Tony Johnston, winner of the annual National Christmas Tree Competition.
The competition is organised each year by the Irish Christmas Tree Growers organisation. Mr. Johnston, based in Dundonald, is the first grower from Northern Ireland to win the accolade of ‘Irish Champion Grower’, and his tree now stands proudly in the State Dining Room at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Mr. Johnston was accompanied by his wife, Ms. Penelope Johnston.
