President Higgins opened a new exhibition on Traveller culture, entitled "Travellers' Journey", at the National Museum of Ireland in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
The exhibition, developed in partnership with the Traveller community and the Western Regional Traveller Health Network, explores the unique cultural heritage and skills of a distinct ethnic minority.
President Higgins has long been an advocate for Travellers' rights and respect for Travellers' distinct identity within the fabric of Irish society.
