President officially opens the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition

On 11 January, President Michael D. Higgins formally opened the 53rd edition of the BT Young Scientists exhibition.

The President visited a number of projects being presented, with ideas and innovations designed to tackle the issues facing Irish and global society. The President also gave an address to the young scientists, paying tribute to the Exhibition initiative, and highlighting the importance of science and of technology transfer in the response to current global challenges such as pollution, poverty and climate change. The President also spoke about the crucial role of imagination in scientific endeavour.
