Elizabeth Handy, President Michael D. Higgins, Sabina Higgins and Charles Handy. President Michael D. Higgins officially opened a photographic exhibition “The Potato Farmers of East Africa” at Dublin Airport today. The exhibition and the accompanying booklet are by Charles Handy, the world renowned Irish business and management guru, and his wife, the photographer Elizabeth Handy. The exhibition highlights the work of the Irish Potato Coalition set up by Vita, the Irish NGO fighting against hunger and climate change in Africa. Members of the coalition include Teagasc, Irish Potato Marketing, the Irish Potato Federation, Gorta / SHA, local farmers groups and women’s groups, and the Ethiopian Government. The purpose is to improve the lives of farm families across East Africa. The exhibition can be viewed in The Mezzanine, Terminal 1, Dublin Airport from April 21st.
