President Higgins met Ned McHugh, who presented the President with the 29th volume published in the context of the Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA) project.
The project began in 1981 and aims to record the topographical development of many Irish towns. Each volume published documents on the history of the selected town through a series of maps and texts.
In November 2016, President Higgins launched the previous publication in the series, which focused on Galway. See details of that event here.
