Dr. Glenn Denning is an Australian scientist, practitioner, and professor who has worked on agriculture and food security in Asia and Africa for over 40 years. He presented the President with a copy of his book Universal Food Security: How to End Hunger While Protecting the Planet.
In January 2023, President Higgins delivered the opening and closing addresses at the Dakar 2 Summit, ‘Feed Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience’ where he highlighted the importance of food sovereignty, the impact of climate change, the legacy of colonialism and the importance of strengthening women’s rights.
