President Michael D. Higgins hosted Enda O'Coineen at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Enda is the first Irish man to sail around the world solo in the Vendee Globe Series 2017. His race was interrupted on New Year's Day 2017 when the mast on his yacht broke, forcing him out of the race. Having teamed up with a French yacht which was also damaged in the race, Mr. O'Coineen completed his round-the-world solo journey in April 2018.
