Deputy Prime Minister Mr Trinh Dinh Dung visited Ireland on 21-23 April, accompanied by Minister of Natural Resource and the Environment Mr Tran Hong Ha, as well as six Vice Ministers and Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao.

The Deputy Prime Minister's visit follows the State Visit by President Higgins to Vietnam in November 2016, during which a number of cooperation and trade agreements were signed, including many contracts for Enterprise Ireland supported Irish companies. A further key outcome from President Higgins’ 2016 visit has been the selection of Ireland as one of 40 countries included under the Vietnamese Government’s pilot e-visa scheme, launched on 1 February 2017, which provides for a 30-day single-entry visa for tourists following an online application.
