President Higgins received Mr. Robert Kearns, Chairman of the Canada Ireland Foundation, to Áras an Uachtaráin on a Courtesy Call.
The Canada Ireland Foundation aims to celebrate the contribution that people from Ireland have made in Canada. Robert Kearns founded the organisation in 1997 with the purpose of creating a public space to commemorate Irish Famine migrants who arrived in Toronto in 1847.
Mr Kearns received the Presidential Distinguished Service Award in 2016 at a ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin.
