The President met with Professor Sylvia Walby at Áras an Uachtaráín.

Ms. Walby is Professor of Sociology and UNESCO Chair in Gender Research, and Director of the Violence and Society UNESCO Centre at Lancaster University, where she conducts research into violence and society.

The purpose of her research is to explain the causes of variations in violence, so as to understand the circumstances under which it might be reduced towards zero.
