On 16 June, 2022, President Higgins was presented with the Tundish Award for 2022 at Áras an Uachtaráin by Stephen Rea.
The Tundish Award was established in 1999 with the intention of quietly celebrating the genius of James Joyce and at the same time honouring artists across many disciplines who have made a significant contribution to the arts in Ireland.
Neil Martin and Paddy Glackin performed a piece of music composed for the President at the ceremony.
