An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, visited Áras an Uachtaráin today, 14th January 2020, requesting in accordance with Article 13 of the Constitution, that President Michael D. Higgins dissolve the 32nd Dáil and summon the new Dáil.
President Higgins signed the proclamation for dissolution shortly after 2 pm.
