Location: Arsenale, Venice, Italy
{{ diary_page.title }}

President Higgins became the first serving President of Ireland to attend the Venice Biennale, the world's biggest and oldest international art exhibition.

The President visited the Irish Pavilion, the venue for an installation by Irish artist Jesse Jones, entitled "Tremble Tremble," and curated by Tessa Giblin.

Her piece takes its title from 1970s Italian Wages for Housework movement, during which women chanted "Tremate, tremate, le streghe sono tornate!" (Tremble, Tremble, the witches have returned!)
