On Monday, 5 October, 2015 Sabina Higgins, accompanied by the President hosted a reception and “Latching On” morning in Áras an Uachtaráin as part of National Breastfeeding Week.
Sabina and the President welcomed representatives of Cuidiú, La Leche League of Ireland, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, Friends of Breastfeeding along with 90 breastfeeding mothers and their children.
At the event Sabina stressed that she strongly supported breastfeeding and spoke of her own experiences of breastfeeding her four children and of the many long-term benefits it provides to both mother and baby.
