President Higgins laid a wreath at the Neue Wache monument in Berlin.
The Neue Wache is Germany’s national memorial for the victims of war and dictatorship. In the centre of the building, which itself has a history that reflects Berlin’s complex past, stands a replica of the statue ‘Mother with Dead Son’ by German artist Käthe Kollwitz.
