President Michael D. Higgins presented a Peace Building Award to former U.S. Congressman Bruce Morrison to kick off Drew University’s peace tour in Ireland.
The award comes from Drew University’s Center on Religion, Culture & Conflict and reflects the significance of the role that Morrison played in the “Good Friday” peace process.
"I am very happy to be given this opportunity to recognise publicly your important contribution, former US Congressman Morrison, to the advancement of peace in Northern Ireland," the President said during the ceremony. "You have made this cause your own with a generosity and tenacity for which the people of this island are profoundly grateful."
