President Higgins welcomed the President of the University of Galway, Mr David Burn, to Áras an Uachtaráin on a courtesy call.
In June of this year, the University of Galway was announced as the custodians of the Presidential Archive of President Higgins.
The documents in the archive, which include personal papers, writings and correspondence, will be held in the Archives and Special Collections of the University Library.
In addition to the Archive, President Higgins also donated a number of books from his personal collection to the University, where they will be available to students and scholars.
