President and Sabina attend "Le Chéile Cois Life" for Seachtain na Gaeilge

Location: Liberty Hall, Dublin 1

Le Chéile Cois Life will trace the social history of Dublin from the Gaelic period to the present through music, song and poetry.

The performance featured Des Geraghty, uilleann piper Mick O’Brien, fiddler and composer Máire Breatnach, the Dublin Lasses, Antaine Ó Faracháin, Noel O’Grady, Jerry O’Reilly, Seán Ó hEarcáin and Liam Mac Mathúna, the Emeritus Professor of Irish at UCD.

Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture, that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.

President Higgins has used his term in office to promote the Irish language. Throughout his career, President Higgins has championed the Irish language and he was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Teilifís na Gaeilge, now TG4.
