President and Sabina attend the annual commemoration of the Irish Citizen Army

As in previous years, the President and Sabina Higgins attended a ceremony commemorating the Irish Citizen Army.

In 2016, the President spoke of the Irish Citizen Army as a “workers' army whose members were committed not just to national independence, but to the social and economic transformation of Ireland". You can read the President’s speech here:
