President Higgins visited Tuam in Co. Galway, for the lauch of "Planet Youth", an approach to prevent children and adolescents from initiating drug use.
The "Planet Youth" model, which originated in Iceland, brings together social scientists, policymakers and practitioners, in an effort to understand how young adults see their lives and communities. The information is used to design measures to change the social environment and reduce the amount of time young people spend unsupervised and to encourage parents to spend more time with their children.
