The President hosted a lunch for First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon.

In June 2016, President Higgins met Ms. Sturgeon in Glasgow, where they discussed measures to increase co-operation between Ireland and Scotland. This theme also came up in the President's speech to the Scottish Parliament later that day.
