President meets Students from Scoil Mhuire, Creeslough

President Higgins welcomed 6th class pupils and teachers from Scoil Mhuire, Creeslough, and Fr John Joe Duffy, curate at St Michael’s Church, Creeslough, to Áras an Uachtaráin.

The community of Creeslough was deeply impacted by the horrific explosion which occurred in the village on 7 October 2022. President Higgins attended funerals and met with families of all of the victims, as well as with emergency services who had responded on the ground, in the immediate aftermath of the explosion. The President has retained a connection with Creeslough in the period since the explosion and has visited the area on a number of occasions.
