President Higgins met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.
Minister Sameh Shoukry is visiting Dublin to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Egyptian Embassy in Ireland.
The two leaders discussed matters of common interest, including Irish-Egyptian bilateral relations, the peace process in the Middle East and European integration.
The President stressed the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as a global issue, and the opportunities in this regard associated with the Egyptian presidency of the African Union.
