President and Sabina Higgins received Susan McKeown, Lida Azizi, Fatemah Qaderyan, Kawsar Roshan, Maryam Roshan and her husband Mohammad Iqbal Kakar on a courtesy call.
The Afghan girls were part of the first all-girls robotics team from Afghanistan, having participated in and won international competitions and had to flee their homes when the Taliban took control. Grammy-winner Susan McKeown’s 'Cuala Foundation' assisted with bringing the women to Ireland where they are now studying and working to help other women in Ireland as well as in Afghanistan.
